WHAT IS PROJECT APRIL:

Project April is a month-long community challenge with a simple premise: use your dumbbells for your Daily Workout all month long. Program A has always been the dumbbell option, and for April, that's the option we choose. Not because it's all we have. Because it's all we need.

The dumbbell isn't just a piece of equipment here. It's a choice. A reminder that your fitness can be this simple and still work.


WHY IT MATTERS:

Project April isn't here to convince you that dumbbells are useful or effective. You already know that. It's here to remind all of us that choosing to simplify is a powerful thing. That stripping away the noise and showing up with what you have isn't a compromise.  

Members return to this every year for different reasons:

  • Maybe you need a reset. Time to cut out distractions and rediscover how empowering simplicity is.
  • Maybe you’re newer to fitness and tired of feeling behind. This is a confidence boost to keep going.
  • Maybe you train this way already, and doing it alongside the community helps make it stick.
  • Maybe you’ve been chasing fitness side quests and this is a homecoming. The reminder that no matter how far the side quest takes you, this is the foundation everything else is built on.

Whatever brings you here, the challenge is the same. Show up. Keep it simple. Do it again tomorrow. You’ll leave April with more than just a badge – you’ll leave with the confidence that what you have is enough.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • Every SP member is automatically in. No sign-up required.
  • During April, challenge yourself to use your dumbbells for the Daily Workout. (And enjoy one less decision you have to make that day.)
  • There are no rules about using dumbbells for every movement (even though our customizations make it possible). The challenge lives in the mindset, not the movement list.
  • Complete the badge requirement throughout the month, earn the Project April badge, and you're entered to win prizes from Concept2, Rogue, and more.

FAQs:

Are other non-dumbbell movements still programmed? Like pull ups, box jumps, running, etc.?

Yes. You can use your dumbbells for as much or as little of the daily movements as you'd like. The customizations are there so that if dumbbells are all you have, you can still do every Daily Workout — but there are no rules about swapping everything.

Are other Daily Workout versions still available? What about Program B or SHIFT?

Yes. You don't lose your fitness freedom during Project April — pick the program option that works for you. Worth noting: SHIFT workouts are dumbbell-based, so they count toward your Project April badge too.

Can I still do Extra Programs during Project April?

Yes. It's up to you how much you participate in the challenge, and you don't have to stop other areas of your training. Project April is simply a reminder that if a Daily Workout with a pair of dumbbells is all you've got that day, it's enough.

What counts toward the Project April badge?

Program A, SHIFT, the Saturday TEAM version of Daily Workouts, On Ramp Program and the Dumbbell Strength Extra Programs all count toward your badge.
